Discovering the life force that exists in all life in the so called modern era was first recognized by Jagadish Chandra Bose, a scientist from India. But the orthodox scientific community was not ready to recognize its existence and became controversial along with Ether Theory. It wasn’t until the 1960s that science would confirm what scientists a century earlier discovered. And from an unlikely place. Cleve Baxter was recognized as one of the world’s foremost authorities in the study of lie detection using galvanic skin response techniques. Located in San Diego, California, Cleve operated his own school where students enrolled in a 6 week course to learn how to analyze and operate polygraph equipment. February 2nd 1966 was a day he would never forget. Working in his laboratory that day he decided to attach an electrode to a leaf to see if he could get a response. Then watered the plant thinking watering it would make the plant a better conductor. Much to his surprise the ink needle on the polygraph moved wildly as if the plant were experiencing a great amount of excitation. 14 minutes passed and the plant response had settled down. Then thinking of a test to see if he could get another response, began thinking of something that would most certainly get a response if the plant were able to respond to his thoughts. So he created an image in his mind of fire. An image of fire and he was going to burn the plant with a match. Much to his amazement the sensor on the polygraph began to move violently. And as he explains that after 14 minutes into that test on February 2nd, 1966, “My life has never been the same”. What made this story so astonishing at the time was that he was not a spiritualist. He wasn’t a mystic and hadn’t studied the philosophy of the Ancient East. Baxter’s professional carrier existed with the establishment, . Federal agencies and law enforcement. Before working with plants he hadn’t thought much about consciousness or awareness beyond what people normally experience on a day to day basis. But his continued tests would confirm his findings and other scientists would come forward to duplicate his results. Baxter would call the process “Primary Perception”, the vehicle of communication, an invisible, unrecognized field that interconnects all species and life forms, whereby biocommunication can occur. Let me say this again… Biocommunication between plants and animals has been proven scientifically? Other scientists had discovered magnetism and the alternating current but Baxter found that this invisible field of energy is also connected to the neurological and emotional fabric of consciousness in all forms of life. In yoga this field of energy that Baxter discovered for people exists mainly at certain points in the body and thoughts can influence how this energy flows. In yoga it is called kundalini and prana. As one advances in yoga, one advances in awareness. An awareness that integrates one’s consciousness with the universe.
Watch the Full Length Feature Video About the Book "Secret Life of Plants" originally written by Peter Tompkins and Christopher Bird.
The video is from the 1970s but well worth the watch!
Music by Stevie Wonder who also wrote the screenplay. Very creative work...
